Washington House

Burnt Toast Inn is pleased to offer Washington House, located just two blocks from the Inn at 516 W. Washington St. in Ann Arbor’s historic Old West Side. Like the Inn, Washington House is a short walk to downtown Ann Arbor’s Main Street. We are WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING!

Washington House offers travelers a more private, self-sufficient option, with full Chef’s Kitchen available and parking lot. We also accept reservations for single-room rental in Washington House. Washington House is a fabulous location for weddings and events (wedding packages available). The beautifully landscaped private yard and parking lot are available for events with whole house rental.

Whole house accommodations include: 2 full baths, 3 bedrooms with a total of 4 full and 1 single beds, for up to 5 people.

The incredible Chef’s Kitchen was added in 2011. Guests can either enjoy the luxury of cooking for themselves in this fully-appointed kitchen, or Sarah can arrange for you to have a local chef cook for you and / or teach you signature dishes. Please inquire.

Washington House offers a self-service kitchen. Guests may easily shop for groceries on foot at the Ann Arbor Farmer’s Market (seasonal), People’s Food Co-op on Fourth Ave., Sparrow Meat & Produce and Monahan’s Seafood in Kerrytown Shops, or at many grocers within a quick drive.

There are many fine restaurants in the neighborhood such as the Chop House, Palio, Gratzi, the Earle, Shalimar (Indian), Blue Nile (Ethiopian), Aut Bar and many more. Along with fine dining, you will find many fun shops for clothing, home decorating and jewelry along Main. Areas of entertainment include: The Ark (folk music), The Blind Pig (live rock, popular), The Cavern Club (dance), The Firefly Jazz Club, The Michigan Theatre (art film), The State Theatre (film), The Power Center and Hill Auditorium (home to many University Musical Society performances) the University of Michigan Athletic Campus and much more – all within walking distance.

There are a number of good breakfast places nearby such as Café Zola, The Broken Egg, Sweetwater Cafe and, a bit further, the well-known Zingerman’s Deli.

Get active at Ann Arbor School of Yoga and The Movement Center or at the Ann Arbor YCMA (YMCA members only) or at Vie Fitness & Spa, all a short walk from either house.

Tim Conlin, your Inn-sitter lives on premises with a separate entrance.

Our goal at Washington House is to have our guests feel as if they have “gotten away from it all”. Therefore, there are no phones or computers to be found. Don’t forget to bring your cell phone! Children and/or dogs are allowed with whole house rental. We accept cash, check, VISA, American Express, Discover and Mastercard.

We look forward to seeing you!
